We have a lot of microphone stands in the Thick and Mystic recording studio. Recently I needed an additional boom, so I found this. It's actually a good little boom and I have no problem recommending it. However, it is deceiving. I picked this boom primarily because it looked like it had a slightly larger counterweight than others. But the counterweight on this boom is nothing more than a piece of rubber - so their really isn't any counterweight, it's more for looks.Fortunately I was able to repurpose another boom and get it all to work for our specific needs. If you need something will any sort of counter weight, other than the arm itself, this may not work for you.Does what I wanted it to do when doing my barstool seated solo gigs. Keeps the passers by from bumping the extended tail and the microphone being jam in the face. Well built for its price range. For added stability make sure one leg of stand is facing you. Universal stand fit. This was a very worthy purchase. My old boom arm was flimsy and a standard mic was almost too heavy for it. So I purchased this one and am very glad I did. It has a nice counterweight so that it balances well. It is easy to slide and adjust tightly so that you don't have that horrible thing where the boom arm/mic start to droop in the middle of you singing (that has happened to me!). It attached to my mic stand without any problems and I added my existing mic clip to it without any hassle. I recommend it.I think the unit is a bit over priced but perhaps I am not knowledgeable enough about the market. Both knobs could be larger. It is a bit difficult to get stuffiest leverage on either knob to get them tight enough to holdIt’s a perfect reasonable set up it gets the job doneIf you're never going to move these or use them very little they're okay. Clutch has seized up then stripped out within 6 months making them unusable. Would not recommend for a club or constant use live situation. Set them up in your band room then never touch them again. I'll be looking elsewhere when I need to order more booms. That said, they're okay if you don't use them a lot.My experience with this microphone boom arm has been terrible. I initially caulked it up to user error at first but after tinkering with it and trying to adjust it to avoid the dreaded mic “sag” (mic slowly lowers mid-performance). We have tightened, tried counter balancing, loosen then retighten, different microphones but to no avail! Overall disappointed.Great quality extension boom... but I wish the angle clamp was a round knob instead of a T-handle so arthritic wrists can loosen or tighten it more easily.
