These are great hangers. However I was under the impression when I bought them that the hanger swiveled 360 degrees to accommodate any mounting orientation, but this is not the case. The hanger only swivels about 60 degrees (just a guess) in either up or down position. So you have to mount it with one of the three screws at the top or the bottom. Note that if you mount it with one screw at the top the auto-finger engage does not work, but it still holds an electric or acoustic guitar (with a standard-shaped head) fine. If you mount it with the top screw at the bottom the auto-grab feature will work just fine (I think this is for lighter instruments like violins, mandolins, etc.). I used larger screw for the top mounting to secure it best into the wall stud (it's a must to secure it to a wall stud for electric guitars and basses) because the other two mounting holes bypass the stud. I used plastic plugs and screws for these. The screws and plastic plugs that come with it are designed for mounting to block/concrete walls (according to the included instructions, which are minimal, hence only 4 out of 5 stars) so in reference to a previous review these can be mounted to concrete walls. In short, for heavy instruments, install to a stud with a sufficiently strong screw at the top of the triangle mounting plate; lighter instruments can be mounted (still to a stud) with the top of the triangle to the bottom which will allow the auto-grab function to work.I've had these for many years, and love how securely they hold the instrument. Easy to get it out, easy to get it back in. Enough said! When you have a guitar that cost more than your first car, you want to make sure that thing is not coming off the wall. Therefore, the mounting screw holes on this thing (at least two out of the three) should align vertically so you can at least put two screws into a wall stud. Instead, there are three offset holes that are just far enough apart so they require 2 screws use anchors (in drywall) and only one into a stud. That doesn’t give me a super secure feeling. The hanger itself is awesome, I just wish the mounting screw holes were aligned or spaced differently.I started out with one of these to see how I like it and after careful review I noticed this product had a downfall which can be fixed quite easily. The Hercules Wallmount is great as far as holding the guitar. Once a guitar is placed on the wallmount, the wallmount slides down about 1/4 of an inch and the two arms fall down securely holding the guitar so it won't fall out, which is probably the best system I've seen for this. Now the downfall, the best way to mount a guitar hanger is screwing the mount into the stud. However, with the mount on this, you're probably going to only be able to get one, maybe two screws (depending on how you mount this to the wall) into a stud. What I did to solve this was but a 4" x 4" x 1" piece of wood and secure it with 2 screws into a stud, and then secure the wallmount to the piece of wood. If you don't have a stud to mount to or you just don't want to waste time with that, I would highly recommend to use some type of expansion anchor or toggle bolt to secure this to the wall as the mounting hardware included simply isn't sufficient - which is why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5. With that being said. I have purchased 4 of these in total and love them.I've got limited floor space, 2 Dean Dimebag ML style guitars and a small dog that likes to mark his territory on everything. So floor stands are out of question. At first I got one of the cheaper hangers. But the foam around the yokes wasn't very sturdy. It reminded me of the cheap foam you find on the floor stands. So I took a chance and spent 20 more bucks on one of these bad boys. The foam is a much thicker & sturdy and holds up well over time. I especially enjoy the weight-sensitive yoke locks. So when I got my 2nd Dean I immediately got another one of these Hercules GSP38WB wall mount. I was pleased to see that they added even MORE security with a locking device to go around the closed yoke locks. It's not gonna stop a criminal who has 1 minute of time to figure out what to do. It's more of a child-proof lock to keep toddlers from pushing up & releasing the guitar and damaging the headstock. And small children from figuring it out and playing around with the guitar.Makes me wish I had a 2nd lock for my other wall mount.I made a 8 guitar hanging rack. Lined a 4x4 with these little guys and offset them from the board at about 35 degrees to give that nice angled look of them all in a row.Lemme tell you, these things worked well. All 8 packages none defective, all parts included. Was easy to integrate them into my project. Screws included are a little squishy but if your careful it's not a problem.I've used some of these things that get jammed up and are a hassle before, but these are great. Lift up on the neck, the tabs flip open and let you remove your instrument. Set it down, they lock closed to keep it safe.I'll be using this brand exclusively in the future for more rugged applications where i'd be nervous with the "String swing" models without the locking jaws.I know many will advise against using this type of hanger with drywall anchors, but in my case, my walls are made of two sheets of 5/8" drywall for sound isolation. Stud finders work very poorly, and I'd need at least 3" screws to even reach the studs. Instead I used Pacco arrivato come previsto in perfette condizioni.
