The lamp come with the plastic housing already on it when it arrived. This made installing it in place of the one that burnt out so much easier. . We bought it to go in a tv we were using in our garage and it worked perfectly! We had called around to several TV repair stores and no one locally to us carried this model of bulb. I'm not really surprised since the TV was older and we had gotten it for free off Craigslist because the previous owner didn't know what was wrong with it or how to repair it. Replacing these kinds of bulbs can be tricky as you don't want to touch any part of the glass during install. The oil from your hands can cause the bulb to burn out prematurely. Once we got the screw removed on the back of the tv and the old bulb removed it was a piece of cake to slide this one in. Just beware of possible glass shards from the old bulb as ours had actually busted inside of the television. We eventually gave this tv to my father inlaw and the new bulb survived the move to his house with no issues. This projection lamp housing was a snap to install! We were watching TV in 5 minutes! It is made in China, and it is not a Sony or Philips. But it didn't cost $100, so I took a chance. I'm hoping it will last. The picture is just as bright and colorful as the lamp it replaced, and I didn't have to recalibrate or reset any settings. As long as it lasts a reasonable amount of time, I'm happy! (BTW, search for the button combinations on your remote to get to the service menu. Why? Here's the tip: so you can see how long your previous (maybe original) lamp lasted! Mine said only 3500 hours, which is why I didn't spend extra for the Sony lamp, which claims a lifespan of 5000-8000 hours.)This lamp comes installed in the housing and works exactly like the OEM lamp. It doesn't say Sony on it, but so what? It does the job, the price is better than what I get locally and delivery was very prompt. I would only advise anyone that has never had to replace these lamps before that it is not uncommon to get defective lamps that burnout within a week or two. I've had this happen twice with two different brands of TVs. The first time, the store that sold me the TV took care of the replacement, and the second time I had ordered the lamp through Amazon and had to call the vendor for replacement. The vendor sent a shipping label for the burnt-out lamp and promptly replaced it with no questions asked, so don't be afraid to order these lamps and if you do get a dud don't rant and rave. Just call the customer service line and they'll take care of the problem for you.ok replacement, bit dimmer than the oem lamp. came with one alignment peg snapped off so i installed the lamp and lamp was working so glued the pin back on. been going 5 months now. had to boost the brightness and color a bit to get things looking good but that lowers picture quality a tad. but $35 its good, was not sure from reviews if any of the $100 philips bulbs were really oem quality or not.I've had this lamp installed for the past week and so far so good. Works as advertised. As always with these lamps, time will tell if it holds up for long. I'm just very glad that the price of these lamps has finally come down to a more sane level. At one point these replacement lamps were selling for over $100! This one cost me about $35, so I ended up buying two of them.I purchased this replacment lamp because I was getting a "yellow" color in the center of my screen. I thought it was my lamp going bad. After replacing the lamp, the "yellow" was still there. The TV has been "semi-retired" and I am deciding whether or not to fix it or just toss it. Looks like a have a spare lamp if I decide to fix the TV.The projection bulb for my Sony SXRD television arrived on time and appears to be as promised. However, since I only ordered because my TV gives a message saying the bulb is at end of life and I haven't changed it out yet, I cannot evaluate if the bulb will give good service, or not.Received it about 5 months ago and when I installed it on my Sony TV it instantly said "change bulb soon" I use the TV every night and it hasn't stopped working yet. Will be buying another to replace it soon.購入後3年で破損しました、純正は10年近く持ちましたので安いなりの理由があるようです。
